Catton Has Career-High for Chargers in Loss to Chiefs

GALESBURG — Waubonsee pulled away late to beat the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team 81-69 on Saturday afternoon at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers (1-8) trailed 43-32 at the break but used a 9-0 run — all by Addison Eger (Mendon, Ill./Unity) — to close within 51-48 midway through the third quarter.
• A Mattie Lower (Aledo, Ill./Rockridge) putback pulled Sandburg to within 56-54 late in the third, but the Chiefs scored 11 of the next 13 and 21 of the next 25 to open up a 77-58 advantage in the fourth.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Sophomore Mackenzie Catton (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone) scored a career-high 11 points for her first double-digit effort as a Charger. Catton finished 5 of 6 from the field, connected on her only 3-point attempt and tied Eger for the team lead with three steals.
